Installation and operation of the mole-scarer
For protection of gardens, vegetable gardens from moles destructive activity people use various devices. One of such devices is a mole-scarer.
Nature endowed moles with unique hearing and sense of smell. These features help them to avoid numerous dangers, predict natural cataclysms long before beginning of the most sensible devices reaction.
Earthquakes, volcano eruptions, thunderstorms are accompanied by soil shakings and vibrations of sub-sonic frequencies. For a majority of animals these vibrations are a signal of danger, and they do all they can to avoid being in such places.
The mole-scarer makes advantage of this phenomena and, being dug into the ground, generates low-frequency oscillations on a plot of 560 sq. m in area. These oscillations radiated by the mole-scarer irritate and scare moles making them burrow farther from the device to run away from the vibration influence. As a result, moles move beyond the bounds of the device activity zone. Total and stable banishment of pests takes place within 4-6 weeks.
Practical advices
To achieve maximum efficiency of device operation it is necessary to follow the recommendations stated below:
1. The mole-scarer must operate constantly during the whole season.
2. It is recommended to change the mole-scarer installation place periodically, in a zone of 5 m radius, to avoid adaptation of moles to the device activity.
3. The mole-scarer must be installed in such a way that the edge of its cap would be 5 cm higher then the soil surface level. The device cap must be screwed tightly.
4. To provide the maximum contact of the mole-scarer it is strongly recommended to tamp the soil around the device body thoroughly.
The mole-scarer has a coverage area about 23.5 m in diameter, provided absence of any obstacles (foundations, wells and other underground constructions). To achieve the best results it is recommended to install several rodent scarers at a 25-30 m distance from each other.
The mole-scarer installation
1. Unscrew the cap counterclockwise.
2. Insert four power supply elements of R20 (D) type, observing polarity.
3. Screw the cap. In about 1-2 minute you will hear a vibrating sound signal.
4. One set of batteries provides 540 h duration of the device operation.
